MercuryGate Celebrates 10th Year With Momentum

SaaS Deployable TMS Solution Provider starts 2010 with a great first-half. New customers in all segments continue the momentum created in 2009

Cary, NC – July 21, 2010 – MercuryGate, the next generation TMS software provider for shippers, freight brokerage and third party logistics providers, is celebrating its 10th year of business with a great start to 2010. MercuryGate added 25 new customers to kick off the year, a 35% improvement over last year. "As the economy recovers, companies are beginning to see opportunities to expand. They're finding new ways to use our cloud deployed TMS to reduce transportation costs and improve their profitability" said Monica Wooden, MercuryGate CEO.

Since its beginnings in the fall of 2000, MercuryGate has emerged as the dominant provider of transportation management systems for logistics service providers. The company has consistently grown in this sector largely due to the solution's highly configurable multi-enterprise data hierarchy and workflow. This allows MercuryGate's logistics clients to accurately and efficiently manage their customer's freight and on-board new customers quickly. Steve Blough, Co-founder and President of MercuryGate adds; "We've continued to adapt the application to the wide variety of complex requirements of the transportation service provider market. Over the years, we've successfully scaled the technology for small brokers and large third-party logistics companies alike. We continue to work hard at keeping pace with the requests for new functionality that comes to us from our customers."

Shippers (i.e., retailers and manufacturers) have also discovered that the MercuryGate TMS offers unique advantages as well. Significant new shipper clients have been added to the customer list in 2010. Cost containment and ease-to-deploy are key for shippers to generate fast ROI. Shippers utilize the TMS to reduce internal transportation costs by optimizing loads across all modes – in any direction (inbound or outbound). Because the TMS supports every mode of transportation, shippers can manage all of their inbound and outbound freight with a single tool – including their international freight and global visibility.

To celebrate its 10-year anniversary, MercuryGate recently announced a new product for managing carriers and carrier-related data, Carma. Carma is an integrated carrier management system that's an optional component of the MercuryGate solution. In addition to keeping tabs on the data required for every vetted carrier (i.e. safety ratings, claims, etc.), Carma also includes an interactive web UI and flexible workflow tool to drive the process of collecting and managing carrier information. "Our customers with large numbers of carriers under contract asked us to develop a tool to help them manage all the data related to insurance coverage, safety ratings, locations, equipment, etc. It was a natural extension of our TMS - and is functionality our primary competitors don't offer, so we enthusiastically agreed to take it on," says Monica Wooden.

With an annual growth rate over 30% the past few years – and the ability to cost effectively implement new customers quickly (across many market sectors), MercuryGate is well positioned for the next decade of its existence as the next generation of TMS.

About MercuryGate International

MercuryGate delivers transportation solutions that allow shippers, carriers, freight brokers and third party logistics providers to plan and execute their freight movements, and analyze the performance of all involved. Customers optimize loads, rate and route loads, spot quote through both private and public bid boards, tender freight, track movements, audit carrier freight invoices, and send customer invoices anywhere in the world. Through a customizable workflow engine, MercuryGate customers are able to move the parcel, LTL (less than truckload), and truckload shipments as well as the more demanding multi-leg ocean, air, and rail movements. Customers may then analyze the information gathered as a result of freight moves to provide key performance indicators on their own processes as well as on carriers, suppliers, and all parties in the supply chain.
