Solution Overview

Mohawk is North America's largest privately owned manufacturer of fine papers for commercial and digital printing. "IT is a very important part of our business, but technology is just a means to an end" according to Paul Stamas. "MercuryGate's SaaS delivery model allowed us to focus on business processes rather than the mechanics of running the system."

"We had been sold bills of goods by four previous TMS vendors, dating back to 2001" says Tony Hunter, IT Project Manager, Mohawk Fine Papers. "These on-site systems were tough to integrate, difficult to manage and they simply didn't do what they were supposed to do. Mired in data entry and administration, we fell way behind in freight payment. Carriers were screaming; we had seven people working 12 and 15 hour days, including weekends."

"Rates were up on TMS within a week of signing with MercuryGate… it was amazing!" Tony continues. "Within one month we were managing freight through the system, as compared to 1 1/2 years with the other guys. In three months we were fully integrated, both in and out, plus every one of our 25 – 30 carriers was either on EDI or using the TMS portal. We cleaned up our eight month freight bill backlog in no time and went down to a core group of three people in just a few months… Our carriers were ecstatic!"

Mohawk recently joined the SmartWay Transport Partnership collaboration between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and industry to help companies save fuel, money and the environment. SmartWay will only accept companies that can document environmental efficiencies. "No way could we have done this without MercuryGate" says Tony.
